I live in a small cedar house on a cliff above the ocean. This pacific shore where I make my images is my home.
Photographs are taken with cameras large format and small... sometimes idiosyncratic cameras that I construct myself from ephemera washed in by the tides. I use old lenses, chunks of beach glass, ice & sea water... anything that will bend light to film.
I print with silver, platinum, gold emulsions in my darkroom... though sometimes I make emulsions from seaweed or parts of trees... and now and then I add infusions from nature or crushed bones & shells in the traditional chemistry of photography.
All of the subjects are as they are found here in nature... they exist as a real visual presence in this landscape... nothing is contrived or managed into existence.
It is very simple... just me... a collection of cameras... and the mystery of existence.
